Sadly my dad died the year after mum's lifeboat was launched so I did the same for him. He would be so proud. i know what a great job you all do when you get the call, i holiday in the coastal town of Sheringham, Norfolk and visit the life boat station and the RNLI shop which i like to support as much as possible. Also in Sheringham they have a vintage lifeboat The Henry Upcher and a life boat museum called The Mo.

We admire that you risk your lives as volunteers , mainly to save crazy or negligent people. You did save us on a whalewatching trip from Mull over 20 years ago after the engines cut out. We are perturbed that you actively fetch illegal immigrants - though we understand your reasoning.

I am making a small donation each month, which doesn't seem nearly enough. If I could afford more, or if my circumstances change. My donation would be more substantial and yet still not enough. Mr Ron Irving (an 'Ancient Mariner')

A message of gratitude to the courageous and dedicated crews of the Lifeboats on behalf of my late uncle Ron who got his sea legs at a very young age (Indefatigable). Ron was Bosun on many rough journeys in the merchant navy not long after WWII: he always remembered those journeys and supported RNLI's great work - especially by the crews who risk everything to save others - during his whole life and also in death. On behalf of Ron thank you so very much for all that you do, very best wishes xx

Hoping you have a quiet and peaceful festive saeson. Am fighting a continual battle with those that cannot separate the work that you do from the migrant situation. Dan, mechanic at my local boat - Tynemouth - and who has done relief work at Dover, call them armchair idiots. That they are. Most though, as I do, appreciate your selfless work in saving lives at sea. All the very best wishes to all in the RNLI for this festive season. To RNLI everywhere. In my case, to those off the west coat of Ireland for saving a dear friend of mine.

Some years ago, my friend was floating in heavy Atlantic seas, his capsized boat away from him and he clinging to anything that floated.... and also clinging to life, for almost 3 hours. Then, overhead, he saw/heard the rescue helicopter which was guiding an RNLI boat to where he floated. He almost wept with relief. He was brought to hospital and to safety by these wonderful, selfless, courageous people. My thanks to them forever.

Merry Christmas to all. You are the only people that I hope never to meet, but it is great knowing that when I get our boat back in the water you are there to help us if we ever need you. I have owned and run boats for 50years including a 354 ton Dutch barge on the continental waterways. I now own a motor launch that I use on the coastal waters for fishing trips. I know how dangerous the water can be and have seen the after affects of what it can do to any boat regardless of how good it is.
