The RNLI placed lifesaving equipment here in Fraserburgh in 1824 and a lifeboat in 1858, making it the first RNLI Lifeboat station in Scotland. We’ve always had tremendous support from the local community, especially when thirteen men were lost in three separate incidents in 1919, 1953 and 1970. The memorial statue depicting a lifeboat man and commemorating the men who were lost stands outside the lifeboat station keeping a watchful eye on the present day lifeboat.
